Ingeniar at the 2nd International Forum on Risk and Prevention, Vulnerability, and Improvement

In its ongoing commitment to promoting safety and effective risk management across various sectors, Ingeniar participated in the 2nd International Forum on Risk and Prevention, Vulnerability, and Improvement, held in Bogotá on September 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. This event, jointly organized by the National University of Colombia, Javeriana University, the Nueva Granada Military University, the University of Azuay, and the University of Cuenca, focused on exploring the latest trends, research, and innovative approaches in risk management. These efforts were aimed at promoting collaborative work between the academic community and public and private entities, creating discussion spaces to strengthen this crucial partnership.

The sessions and workshops led by Ingeniar addressed key issues related to probabilistic risk assessment and its use in informed decision-making. Below is a summary of the topics we covered:

1. Volcanic Risk Assessment at Galeras Volcano: This session explored the implications of volcanic risk assessment on territorial planning.

2. Proposal for Basic Design Wind Speeds  for new buildings, existing interventions, and post-hurricane Iota reconstruction in San Andrés and Providencia

3. Climate Risk Modeling and Adaptation Goals in Colombia’s Long-Term Climate Strategy E2050: This session examined climate risk modeling techniques and discussed adaptation alternatives designed based on probabilistic risk assessment results for Colombia.

4. Global Risk and Resilience Model for Infrastructure.

5. Seismic Resilience Workshop for Infrastructure: In this theoretical/practical workshop, the impact of seismic events on the water and sanitation infrastructure of Manizales was simulated using the SISMAN-LISA program developed by Ingeniar.

At Ingeniar, we are committed to advancing the understanding and management of risk. Our participation in the 2nd International Forum on Risk and Prevention was a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and collaborate with the academic community and public and private entities in the search for effective risk management solutions.
